Omonia are through to the quarter finals of the FA Sunday Cup and in doing so join New Salamis at this stage who qualified last week.
It took a while for Omonia to settle and for the first twenty minutes it looked like it may go St Joseph’s way, then a goal from Ioannis Varouxakis changed the game when he tapped the ball in the back of the net from close range. so they went into the break leading 1-0.
Omonia added a second soon later when a St Joseph defender error allowed Alex Anderson to break through and score the second. But St Josephs came back to make it 2-1, with a shot from the edge of the box.
The third Omonia goal came from Nektarios Varouxakis when he hit a bouncing goal past the keeper. The same player added the 4th with a shot from inside the box. But the best goal was left till last when St Josephs blasted a shot from just outside the box into the top right hand corner of the goal to finish the game at 4-2.
A great win for Omonia in this prestigious cup.
