Olympia 2 New Salamis 4
It was billed to be the match of the day and was the game shown live on Hellenic TV and it definitely lived up to its expectations. New Salamis got off to a good start when the Olympia defence was hassled by the Reds striker Deniz Mehmet who went onto score the first goal. The second came again from Deniz Mehmet with again a similar goal. Just before the break Kyri Portou scored from the penalty spot to take New Salamis into half time 3-0 up and then they added a fourth soon after with another penalty again from Kyri Portou.
New Salamis made a few team changes but within a space of three minutes the game exploded when Olympia grabbed two goals with David Lardy and Evren to reduce the score to 4-2 making it a very tense last twenty minutes for both teams,but New Salamis held out to win 4-2 to remain unbeaten.
St Panteleimon 3 Omonia 4
This ended up being match of the day with both teams playing open attacking football pleasing the watching crowd.
St Panteleimon struck first with a goal from Alex Dimgioka, Omonia equalised with Ricardo who scored again to give Omonia the lead 2-1 then Alex Dimgioka equalised for the Saints and it was game on with both teams sensing they can win and both going for goal and this time St Panteleimon retook the lead when Gkesi Gkioka scored but their excitement was short lived as Omonia went onto score two goals from Ricardo and Nick Nicou to give the Greens a 4-3 win.
KLN 2 Anorthosis 1
KLN needed a win to kickstart their season, and with key players back this was a perfect opportunity against an Anorthosis side that haven't started so well themselves. Everything was going to plan for KLN, thanks to goals from Nick Louca and Chris Papacosta after some sublime individual skill from Max Papacosta and Nurhan respectively. In the second half, KLN had more chances but were unable.to increase their lead. Anorthosis grew in confidence and were rewarded with a Danny Coolridge goal with 15 minutes to go. It was then defence against attack as Anorthosis looked for an equaliser, but KLN held strong and held on for their first 3 points of the season.
Arachne 2 Brotherhood 4
Another exciting game with Arachne still looking for their first win and posing problems for Brotherhood in the later stages of the game.
Brotherhood led 3-0 Arachne reduced the score to 3-1 then it was 4-1 and Arachne scored to make it 4-2 final score and a win for Brotherhood.
Brotherhood’s scorers were Aaron Kennedy a hat trick and Chris Adamou. Arachne goal scorers were Graham Sawkins and Chris Constantinides.
Apoel 4 Maronites 2
Both teams put up a good performance with Maronites the better team in the first half whilst Apoel were better in the second half. Maronites started well by scoring first with a goal from Tyler Barclay and had more chances to increase their lead before Apoel managed to equalise with Jemal Iyoyi in the 36th minutes to go into the break 1-1.
The half time team talk managed to pick up Apoel who scored within two minutes of the restart with Adam Lambrou and on the 50th minute Apoel scored with Philip Adams to make it 3-1. Maronites then started raising their game at 3-1 down. But Apoel increased their lead with a fourth from Vincent Lwanga making it 4-1. Maronites scored with Andreas Vazanias to make it final score 4-2 and put Apoel in the top spot of the second division.
Cetinkaya Cinar 3 Asha 1
Asha came into this match hoping for their first win, but it was Cinar who set the pace and took the lead on 13 minutes, a Kemarr pass to Salih Karakis who was very persistent and bundled the ball in for 1-0. The first half finished with limited chances but that all changed in the second half.
Cinar increased their lead on 47 minutes with Adem Esen running onto a long ball and finishing it off with a delightful lob for 2-0.
Asha had their chances but failed to put them away until the 72nd minute. A freekick into the box , Cinar failed to clear a couple of attempts and Chris Spyrou managed to squeeze the ball between 2 defenders for 2-1. Asha pressed on for the equalizer and even hit the post from an attempt by Chris Spyrou.
On 86 minutes the impressive Cinar debutant Kerem Bashkal's pinpoint pass found Erkin(Rio)Enver who coolly dinked the ball over the Asha keeper for 3-1. Despite Asha's efforts they found it difficult to beat replacement keeper Allan Buck for the injured Remzi.
Komi Kebir 1 Pantel 2
Pantel dominated the game right from Kick off. They took the lead through Andrew Kitipos. Top of the table Komi Kebir were struggling to settle and play their normal game and Theo Kasapi scored a great team goal for the second to dent Komi’s hopes of getting back into the game
Komi had a good ten minute spell towards the end and managed to score from a set piece with Duncan Quiqley and Pantel were able to hold out and win 2-1 for their second win in a row
