Second Division

Cetinkaya Cinar 2 APOEL 3

First league game of the season and this game was primed as one of the big games of Division 2. Cinar seemed to have settled quicker than Apoel but a slip by a Cinar player on 10 minutes enabled Apoel to push forward and lay a pass into the box for their striker Adam Adamou to tap into an empty net.  It got worse for Cinar on 30 minutes as a long ball over the Cinar defence was met by the Apoel striker Adam Adamou who brilliantly lobbed Remzi from 20 yards for 0-2.

Cinar did not sit and crumble and fought back and a great chance 2 minutes later with Leon Wilson one on one with the keeper, only to shoot the ball right at him.  The pressure paid off a minute later when Daniel of Cinar was brought down in the box, but his resulting penalty was saved by the keeper. With half time looming a long ball by Cinar to Erkin(Rio) Enver whose was too much for the Apoel defence and he neatly placed the ball for 1-2.

Cetinkaya Cinar were now controlling the start of the second half and managed to level but the goal was ruled out for offside.  They eventually did level on 72 minutes as sub Kerim Raies speedy run was then executed perfectly for 2-2.  With the game looking like ending in a draw, Apoel started putting pressure on for a winner and it paid off when Michael Spencer  scored with six minutes left as his run into the Cinar box was unopposed by the defenders, 2-3.  The remainder of the game was met with some hectic defending but Apoel held on for the win.

ACHNA 2 KOMI KEBIR 3

Two debut goals allowed Komi Kebir to open their campaign with three points but it was touch and go all the way as Achna kept threatening to pull level.

18 year old Andrew Prokopi marked his first game with the opening goal with a stunning strike from the edge of the area and at that point Komi should have gone on to score another one or two as chances went begging and Nick in Achna's goal pulled off some great saves.

Achna had their chances aswell as Chris Petrou and Theo both went close.

The second half saw Komi pushing for the second and it came when a great run and pass from Kyri Christofi put Andreas Bryant through and he finished coolly.

Achna pushed to get back into the game and they got a goal back through Yianni Pilavakis.

KomI's third came after another debutant Chris Chira finished after great work on the left by Theo Vassiliou.

Achna ensured a nervy finish when Theokli Charalambous took advantage of some sloppy defending to score in injury time.

Pantel 0 Asha 0

The long awaited start to the season kicked off with this first game of the season. Asha FC were facing a very strong newly build Pantel team under a new manager Demi Ponnou. The game started with both sides defending well and both sides were keen to open the score and hope to win. It looked from the touchline both teams wanted to win but neither side wanted to lose. The longer the game progressed it seemed that a draw would be a fair scoreline but Asha Fc were the team that came closer to scoring when Chris Spyrou coming in from the left side hit a shot that thundered off the post. But saying that Pantel had their chances too.
