First Division

Omonia 0 New Salamis 6 Reigning league and all England champions New Salamis made a statement on the first day of the new league season by beating last year's league runners up Omonia 6-0. On Sunday the reds had in charge of the team interim managers James Chrysanthou and Ahmet Rifat in place of George Georgiou and Rob Pattwell. On this performance New Salamis will take some stopping whilst Omonia will have to forget Sunday's performance and move on. New Salamis goals came from Kyri Portou 2, Richard Georgiou 2, Ryan Hervel and John Kyriacou two of the goals came within the first five minutes and shook the Greens. Omonia had their star striker Yiannis Varoufxakis sent off at the point when they were 3-0 down

Brotherhood 3 Livadia 1 Brotherhood got off to a good start to the new season they took an early lead versus Brotherhood with a goal from new signing Zaine Martin and seem to be on top  but stuttered when they were awarded a penalty against them which Ella's scored making it 1-1. But before the game could settle Aaron Kennedy scored to make it 2-1 Brotherhood. From then on Livadia were chasing the game pressurising the Brotherhood rearguard who held out and scored a third goal with Aaron Kennedy a second for him and putting the game out of Livadia's reach.

St Panteleimon 3 Arachne 1

A warm, sunny day greeted St. Panteleimon to their first competitive game in Division One and at their new Stadium.  Arachne were the visitors, also newly promoted. Arachne started brightly whilst the Saints looked unusually off the pace.  With 5 minutes played Arachne broke free on the right and Ant Panayi finished neatly to take an early lead. The goal saw the Saints come to life playing some excellent football and equalised from a Katsikas free-kick that found the impressive Jack Smith unmarked. A great touch and strike made it 1-1. The second half was brilliantly contested by both teams and a brilliant strike from Jack Smith from a free-kick left the keeper no chance.  Arachne then pressed superbly playing some very spirited football but the Saints counter attacked at pace and a long ball from Donald Manaj found Igkli Sevaj who dribbled through on goal and finished neatly to make it 3-1. A great start for the new boys .

Anorthosis 0 Olympia 3 Anorthosis under their new manager Fotis were unfortunate not to get off to a good start by coming up against a formidable Olympia managed by Steve Cinotti. Olympia looked solid all round, Anorthosis have several new players so they will take time to settle. Olympia took control from the start and played some very good football they look like they are going to be the surprise team of the season. They were 1-0 up at half time with a goal from Tashan Bradshaw Brown The second half they quickly scored two goals with Tashan again and George Yianni and although Anorthosis tried to get back into the game Olympia held out to win 3-0.
